Terms of Service
What you are agreeing to when you use Caret, in the plainest language we could manage.

1. Who we are
Caret is provided by Caret AGI (“Caret”, “we”). These terms cover the desktop application, the cloud service, and this website. Using any of them means you accept them.
2. Your account
The desktop application works without an account and we would like to keep it that way. An account is needed only for the cloud service. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials to yourself; tell us promptly if you think somebody else has them.
You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and you must not use Caret if we are barred from providing it to you by applicable sanctions or export law.
3. What the cloud service is
A persistent virtual machine — a “box” — that runs a coding agent against your repositories. A box belongs to one developer, sleeps when idle, and keeps its disk between sessions.
You bring your own model credential. Caret drives the Claude or Codex CLI using your subscription with that provider. Your use of the model is governed by your agreement with them, not with us, and we do not resell their capacity.
4. Your content
Your repositories, your transcripts and anything your agent produces are yours. You keep every right in them. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your content on the box, to transmit it between your machine and the box, and to back it up.
We do not train models on your content, and we do not sell it or share it with anybody except the subprocessors listed in our Data Processing Addendum.
We do not read your content. Our staff access it only where you have asked us to look at something, or where we are compelled by law, and in the second case we will tell you unless we are forbidden to.
5. What you may not do
- Use a box for anything other than software development — no crypto mining, no proxying other people’s traffic, no bulk scraping, no media transcoding farms.
- Break the law with it, or use it to attack, probe or disrupt anybody else’s systems.
- Try to escape the box, reach another customer’s box, or defeat the outbound network policy.
- Resell the service, or share one seat between several people. A seat is a person.
We may suspend a box immediately if it is doing one of these, and we will tell you why.
6. The agent
Caret runs an autonomous agent that writes and executes code on your behalf. It makes mistakes. It can delete work, push a bad commit, or run a command you would not have run. Review what it does before you rely on it, and keep your work in version control. The host bridge, which lets an agent reach files on your own computer, is off until you turn it on and is limited to the folders you share.
7. Money
Plans are billed per seat, per month, in advance. Awake-hours beyond your team’s pooled allowance are billed in arrears at the rate for your plan. A seat is an active member of your team; adding one is prorated immediately, and removing one stops the charge from the next cycle.
Dodo Payments is our merchant of record. They take the payment, they are the seller on your invoice, and they handle tax. Their terms apply to the transaction itself.
You can cancel at any time and keep the service to the end of the period you have paid for. We do not give refunds for partial months, but if something went wrong on our side, write to us — we would rather fix it than argue about it.
We may change prices with 30 days’ notice by email. A change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
8. Availability
We do not offer a service level agreement. We run the service carefully and we will tell you about planned interruptions, but a box can be unavailable and you should not build anything time-critical on the assumption that it will not be.
9. Ending it
You can close your account whenever you like. We may end your account with 30 days’ notice, or immediately if you materially breach these terms. When an account ends, its boxes are destroyed and their disks are deleted within 30 days — export anything you want to keep before then.
10. Warranties and liability
Caret is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost profits or lost data, and our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. For material changes we will email account holders at least 30 days before they take effect, and continuing to use Caret after that means you accept them. The date at the top of this page is changed by hand, so it means what it says.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction — except that either of us may seek an injunction anywhere to protect intellectual property or confidential information.
